Gold Coast Solar & Battery Rebates 2026
Thanks to current federal incentives, installing solar panels for Gold Coast residents and businesses is a lot more affordable than many people might realise. If you are planning a new solar PV system or adding a solar battery, our team can explain what you may be eligible for. They can also apply for eligible discounts as part of your quote.
Federal Solar Panel Rebate (STCs)
The federal STC solar rebate provides an upfront discount on eligible solar panels through the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. However, the value of STCs changes over time, which means the final discount may vary. Notwithstanding, your installer will apply it at the point of sale.
Federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program
Eligible households can also access the federal battery rebate, which is currently worth around $252 per usable kWh on the first 14 kWh (based on the 1 May 2026 rate). That represents roughly a 30% reduction on an eligible solar battery system.
To qualify for it, the battery must:
- Be paired with solar
- Have at least 5 kWh of usable capacity
- Use Clean Energy Council-approved battery and inverter products
- Have grid-connected systems that are VPP-capable
The rebate is applied upfront by the installer. As of 1 January 2027, the rate is scheduled to reduce again.
South East Queensland Feed-in Tariffs
If your system generates excess energy, it can be exported to the grid for a feed-in credit on your electricity bills. That said, you should be aware that feed-in tariff rates vary between electricity retailers across South East Queensland. So, the amount you’ll receive will differ.
